# 4.4 APPS AND BEDSIDE TV SETTINGS

Apps get onto devices in two steps: the app is uploaded to MDM, then it's added to a Configuration. Every device using that Configuration installs it during its update window.

### **Step 1: Make sure the app is in MDM**

**Where:** Device Setup → Third-Party Applications.

This lists every app available to your devices — for example Max, Prime Video, PBS KIDS Video, YouTube, and Android System WebView — with its version. If an app you want isn't listed, ask your Lincata contact to add it.

### **Step 2: Add it to a Configuration**

1. Open Device Setup → Configurations and edit the Configuration.
2. Choose the System → Applications category.
3. Under Third-Party Apps, click + and pick the app.
4. Set Do Not Clear Data (below), add any Parameters, and save.

#### **Do Not Clear Data**

By default, LincTV clears each app's data when a patient is discharged — so the next patient doesn't inherit the last patient's streaming login. That's what you want for streaming apps. 

| **Turn Do Not Clear Data on for Epic Bedside TV only.** *Bedside TV needs to keep its setup and bed registration between patients. Every other app — Max, Prime Video, YouTube, and the rest — should stay off.* |

#### **Bedside TV's MyChart URL**

The Epic Bedside TV app needs two things in its Configuration entry:

- **Do Not Clear Data:** on
- **Parameter:** the MyChart URL, so MDM sets it automatically (Bedside TV 11.4 and later): **"webserver\_url": "https://\[your MyChart Webserver URL\]/\[MyChart environment\]/"**

Use the URL for the right environment, and keep the trailing slash.

#### **Icons and videos for Bedside TV (Server Files)**

**Where:** Setup → Server Files.

This is where the icons for your Activity Carousel tiles live (for example max-logo.png or prime-video.png), along with any welcome or patient education videos you want to play in Bedside TV. Upload with New, then share the file's link with your Epic analyst for the FDI record.
